Four books to read

Day 4: Bored from quarantine???? And you have nothing to do?? If you’ve let reading slide to the margin of your life, now is the time to bring it back. So make a space to read a book alone or with your family!! In day 4, we came back with four exciting books to read !!

Before I go to sleep

Through out the novel, you have a journey through Christine Lucas’s diary to uncover the secret of her life. 

After getting exposed to an attack, Christine Lucas starts suffering from anterograde amnesia. Her mind is no longer able to digest any new memories. She lives a plain dull life alone with her husband. After some time, Lucas starts to consider her doctor’s suggestion and starts writing her daily life events in her diary before she sleeps. This decision helped her to  track her life and discover which land she is standing on. By time, Lucas starts realizing some pieces of her puzzle are missing which hampers the process of getting back her memory. This realization makes her question everything, everyone, and herself.


I usually find it hard to read Novels without getting bored ,but I surprisingly found “After” a very interesting Book. “After series” is a New Adult series of four books that describe the love story between a straight-laced college freshman, Tessa, and an emotionally damaged young man ,Hardin, who is filled with so much anger and hate for himself and the world around him that it affects all of his relationships…especially his relationship with Tessa. Tessa is a straight girl with big dreams and all what she wanted in life is to make her mother proud of her and to be a writer. Hardin is a British Punk boy who never cares about anything but himself.

The secrets that made this book so intriguing are in the first book. The pairing of Tessa and Hardin makes absolutely no sense; yet, as a reader, I completely bought into their relationship.  As the first book progresses, you understand why it make no sense, however later on, it starts to make complete sense together.  Hardin was a completely different character which made him hard to understand. As the I finished reading the first book, I really liked him because I felt that he is kind of a mysterious person. I was riveted and had to read on to the second, third and then fourth books.

Books two and three are heartbreaking as this couple just can’t get their act together.  I found myself furious at Tessa for forgiving Hardin for every transgression he made.  He had some redeemable qualities.

The fourth book is where I realized the complete brilliance of this series. This is where I’ll give you a tiny spoiler:  the author is brilliant! He comes with too much emotional baggage from his childhood, and it takes him forever to get his act together.  The ending of the fifth book takes place 20 years after our love birds first laid their eyes on each other.

“Before”,the fifth book and the last one for Tessa and Hardin’s relationship tells you the events that occurred before Hardin falls for Tessa and how he got into Washington University.  There is actually a movie made for the novel “after” and very soon another movie for that novel will be out.

The Cukoo’s Calling

The novel begins with a pack of police officers outside the house where a supermodel fell to her death from her apartment balcony in an apparent drug-triggered suicide.

Although the death is almost immediately confirmed a suicide, Lula Landry’s brother shows up at Cormoran Strike’s door, a thirty-five-year-old private detective, claiming his strong belief that his sister was pushed to her death.

Cormoran and his new assistantant, Robin Ellacott work on finding the truth behind what happened between many people, many motives, and few clues.

The novel has the most intricate plot, and an unexpected, and absloutely mind blowing ending that will have you completely shocked for a couple days.

The book carries perfect detail to get your brain completely invested.

If you want a good thriller, that’ll get your adrenaline going and mind working, this is definitely the book for you!

Five dishes to burn

Chocolate cake

Dry ingredients 

–  3 cups flour

–  1 &1/2 cups cocoa powder 

–  2 -3 cups sugar

– 2 tbs baking powder

– A sprinkle of vanilla/ a teaspoon of vanilla extract

Wet ingredients 

– 3 eggs 

– 1&1/2 cups of milk

– 1 cup of warm water

–  1/2 a cup of oil 


– Nutella 

– Sprinkles/chocolate chips (optional)


1.Get a bowl and start adding all ur dry ingredients to it , mixing them until they’re even . 

2.Then bring a larger bowl and put in it the wet ingredients and after mixing them add ur dry ingredients in little by little til they’re well incorporated… ur dough is now ready , now take the pan and add a little oil to it then line it with parchment paper to ensure it doesn’t stick to the pan.

3. Now put in the oven on 180-190 degrees for 35-50 min . 

4. After the cake is ready go ahead and cover it with Nutella as the topping and add ur favorite chocolates to decorate it 💕.

Ps: keep in mind that u must check consistently on the cake ,and after 35 min you can use this way to make sure it’s ready: use a knife and dip it in the cake if nth was stuck to it when u release it ur cake is ready , if the knife had wet dough stuck( the cake needs more time) .. lower the heat and leave it a little more.

Fluffy pancakes


 -3/4 cup milk

-2 table spoons white vinegar 

-1 cup all-purpose flour

-2 table spoons white sugar

-1 tea spoon baking powder

-1/2 tea spoon baking soda

-1/2 tea spoon salt

-1 egg

-2 table spoons butter/melted

-cooking spray


1. Combine milk with vinegar in a medium bowl and set aside for 5 min to “sour”

2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk egg and butter into “soured” milk. Pour the flour mixture in the wet ingredients and whisks until lumbs are grown.

3.Heat a large skillet over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. Pour 1/4 cupfuls of batter into the skillet , and cook until bubbles appear on the surface. Flip with a sapatula and cook until browned on the other side and bon appétit.

Chicken Byriani 


– 3 table spoons olive oil 

– 4 chicken thighs boneless and skinless 

– 1 yellow onion cut into 1/2 inch/dice

– 1 table spoon garlic minced 

– 2 Roma tomatoes grated

– 1/2 cup water

– 1 green bell pepper sliced 

– 2 tea spoons salt

– 1/4 tea spoon cayenne pepper 

– 1/2 tea spoon black pepper 

– 2 tea spoons garam masala 

– 1 tea spoon coriander 

– 1/2 tea spoon ground turmeric 

-1 tea spoon cumin

– 1/2 tea spoon  cinnamon

– 4 cups chicken broth

– 2 cups basmati rice rinsed and drained 


1. Add olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

2. Add the chicken and cook until browned on both sides

3. Add in the onion, and cook until translucent , about 3-4 minutes 

4. Stir in garlic,  ginger, tomatoes and 1/2 cup of water 

5. Bring to a simmer, and cook until the water has evaporated, about 20 min

6. Add in the bell pepper, salt, cayenne, black pepper, garam masala, coriander, turmeric, cumin and cinnamon , stirring well

7. Add in the chicken broth and bring to a boil

8. Add in the basmati rice, reduce to low heat and cook for 18-20 min

9. Turn off the heat and let sit ,covered, for 5 min before opening and serving .

-Corn starch

-0.5 kg ground beef

-unsalted butter



-plus any toping of preference.


1.First you let the the beef loose if you have it in a refrigerator. 

2.You mix all the ingredients together (corn starch, salt, onion, milk, garlic, sugar, an egg). 

3. Then, you put it on the ground beef and mix it. 

4.You place the beef in the refrigerator for 5 min to harden and you could make patties from it. 

5.And you put as much patties you could cook a time depends on your pan and the size your doing. 

6. Cover your pan until the beef starts to darken on the upper side then flip it. 

7.repeat until you reach the level of cooking you prefer. 

8.Then you repeat for the rest of the patties. 

9.When you finish , put all the patties

Six Workout Suggestions

Day 1: We are all sitting in our homes during quarantine with nothing to do but stare at our ceilings. As promised, today, we are starting the #14_days_together plan with some home exercises to get that blood pumping with the least equipment.


What muscles does it work on?

1.Quads. 2.Glutes.

How to do it?

1.Find a foot stance that feels best for you. Pointing your toes slightly outwards helps some, but keeping them parallel is fine, too. If you’re not sure what’s best, start by putting your feet shoulder-width apart and pointed about 15 degrees outwards.

2.Tense your abs like someone is about to punch you.

3.Look straight ahead and stand tall!

How many calories does it burn?

4-6 calories a minute.


What muscle does it work on?

1.Chest. 2.triceps.

How to do it?

1.Begin with your chest and stomach flat on the floor.

2.Exhale as you push from your hands and heels, bringing your torso, chest, and thighs off the ground.

3.Pause for a second in the plank position — keep your core engaged.

4.Inhale as you slowly lower back to your starting position.

How many calories does it burn?

Atleast 7 calories a minute.

How to do it?

1. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart. Engage your core.

2. Take a big step forward with right leg. Start to shift your weight forward so heel hits the floor first.

3. Lower your body until right thigh is parallel to the floor and right shin is vertical. It’s OK if knee shifts forward a little as long as it doesn’t go past right toe. If mobility allows, lightly tap left knee to the floor while keeping weight in right heel.

4. Press into right heel to drive back up to starting position.

5. Repeat on the other side.

How many calories does it burn?

From 5-9 calories a minute.

What muscle does it work on?


How to do it?

1.Hold a dumbbell in each hand at the sides with palms facing in toward the side of the thigh and arms straight down.

2.Position the feet comfortably about shoulder-width apart. Brace the core muscles to be ready to lift the weight.

3.Lift one dumbbell toward the shoulder, rotating the arm as it moves up so that the palm with the dumbbell is now facing upward (supine) and the elbow is pointing to the ground with the forearm almost vertical. Keep the elbow close to the body. Exhale while lifting.

4.Lower to the side position and perform the same movement with the other arm. Inhale while lowering the weight.

How many calories does it burn?About 6 calories a minute.

How to do it?

1. Plant hands directly under shoulders (slightly wider than shoulder width) like you’re about to do a push-up.

2. Ground toes into the floor and squeeze glutes to stabilize your body. Your legs should be working, too — be careful not to lock or hyperextend your knees.

3. Neutralize your neck and spine by looking at a spot on the floor about a foot beyond your hands. Your head should be in line with your back.

4. Hold the position for 20 seconds. As you get more comfortable with the move, hold your plank for as long as possible without compromising your form or breath.

How to do it?

1.Stand upright with your legs together, arms at your sides.

2.Bend your knees slightly, and jump into the air.

3.As you jump, spread your legs to be about shoulder-width apart. Stretch your arms out and over your head.

4.Jump back to starting position.


How many calories does it burn?About 8 calories a minute.

What Is Covid-19

*1-What is the Coronavirus?*
The virus we are currently facing is actually called COVID-19 ,caused by the virus called SARS-cov-2, which is one of the members of the Virus family, called Corona viruses.
Four of these viruses have always been around, and aren’t more dangerous than the flu. Chances are, you’ve been infected with one of them and treated it as a common cold that your immunity stood up to and fought off within a week or two.
However, in 2002, the first ever case infected by the SARS-coV-1 virus appeared in China. The virus is believed to have been transferred to humans through eating a type of small mammals. And although the virus spread rapidly to 26 countries, and killed 10% of it’s hosts, humans were able to repress it ,and it compelety disappeared in 8 months.
In 2012, another member of the family appeared in KSA, called MERS-coV. MERS-coV was originated due to feeding on camel meats ,which resulted in severe respiratory infections in humans. This time round, the fatality rate was more than 30%, and the disease was extremely severe. However, it was suppressed before spreading to other countries and compelety disappeared.
And last but not least, SARS-cov-2, causing the COVID-19 which has shown the extremely rapid spread of the disease and panic alike.
It started in November 2019, when a group of patients in Wuhan showed abnormal symptoms of unknown disease, later known to be COVID-19.

*2-Why is COVID-19 causing this panic?*
While the previous two viruses had much higher fatality rates, the COVID-19 is still the one we aren’t able to control.
SARS-coV-1 and MERS-coV had very severe symptoms which were easily noticed on patients who were then quarintined.
The problem with COVID-19 lies in the subtleness of its symptoms especially on healthy hosts ,who mistake it for a common cold or bacterial infection and leave their homes, only to infect a group of other people, who then repeat the cycle of spreading it over and over again.
The COVID-19 has a fatality rate of only 3%, but at the current rate of it’s spread, 70% of the population will have been infected by 2021.

*3-How is it transmitted?*
So far, the virus is known to be transmitted through droplets from an infected person’s coughing or sneezing entering your system.
This might be direct, through close proximity with an infected person, or indirect, by touching an infected surface then touching your hands to your face.

*4-Should I be scared?*
Yes and No.
If you’re relatively young and have no major health issues, there’s a huge chance your immunity system will be able to fight  the virus.
However, with being infected, you risk infecting elderly people, people with respiration difficulties, or infants whose immunity hasn’t been built up yet is big. These are the cases where COVID-19 may be considered fatal. It is important to stay cautious.

*5-What’re the symptoms?*
High fever, dry coughs, headache, aching all over the body.

*6-How do I protect myself? And what should I do if I notice symptoms on myself?*
You need to stay home as much as you possibly can.
Avoid being in close proximity with people ,and keep your hands off any unsanitized surface, people’s hands, and your own face.
Wash your hands frequently with water and soap.
If you suspect symptoms on yourself, call the professionals.
Do not go to a hospital since it may risk you transmitting it to someone or vice versa.
You will be tested ,and accordingly sent home or to isolation to avoid the spread.

*7-Why aren’t there drugs and vaccines yet?*
The virus is still very new,and truth is, we don’t know much about its structure and functions yet, but doctors and researchers all around the world are trying their best to study the virus and find solutions.

*8-Is it true the virus was synthesized in labs?*
No. The virus is far too complex to have been sythesised and although many people do support the theory, it has been proven compelety illogical.
Countries who were suspected to have synthesised the virus are some of the most affected.
It is unwise to spread such theories in a time where people are already panicking and need to stick together the most.

*9-The COVID-19 Do’s and Dont’s*
-Wash your hands
-Avoid Crowds
-Stay aware to symptoms
-Read information from trusted sources
-Avoid direct phsyical contact with people
-Follow instructions given by health ministries around the world
-Laugh about Corona virus memes, but still take it seriously

-Ignore the risks
-Buy in bulk. This only encourages traders to increase prices and causes shortage in many supplies ,which drastically harms other people, especially those who cannot afford buying in bulk like you do.
-Go out unnecessarily
-Spread rumors
-Take unprescribed antibiotics. They have no effect on viruses. You’re only harming yourself by taking unnecessary medication.

In a nutshell, there isn’t a need to panic, but we have to remain cautious ,stay home ,and pray for all patients and doctors to safely get through this.

Violence In Teenagers

Going through worldwide difficult circumstances, teenagers’ moodswings are most likely to resurface during these days. By time, it becomes harder to figure out whether your anger moments were influenced by hormones or is there more into that that needs to be recognised before it turns into a real problem. The only way to figure this out is to learn the signs of youth violence.
Youth violence refers to violence that occurs among individuals between the age of 10 and 24. It includes actions of both verbal and physical abuse. A young person who shows signs of savagery can either be a victim of abuse , or perpetrator, or both. Even past traumas that a person may experience as a toddler may take a heavy toll on his/her moral behavior as an adult. In the past few years, male teenagers were believed to show more signs of teenage violence than females; however, female teenage violence is on the rise.
Aggressive behaviours that an individual might practice can be divided into two types.
An individual might practice bullying, verbal abusing, fistfighting. Although such actions do have bad consequences, they usually don’t result in a major damage such as death or serious injuries. This type is usually unconsciously normalised as a simple moodswing. However, it might later result in falling into the second type
On the other hand, an individual might practice serious aggressive actions such as rape, assaults, homicide and robbery. These types of actions might result in serious consequences such as death, or sentences to jail.

Media influence:
Nobody can deny how much movies lately started sugarcoating the fake image of the bad boys by showing how girls might get heads over heals at the sight of a bad boy and how charming their mysterious personality can be. Thus, alot of male teenagers get encouraged to recarnate into the mysterious handsome devil, blindly imitating the villain’s actions of violence, abuse, womanising, and sleeping around.
Traumas and past experiences:
A child’s mind does take notes of alot of details happening around him which molds him into the type of person he will be as he grows. The bridge connecting between the childhood and adulthood happens to be the teenage years, where a person truly gets to discover his passions, priorities, and self. The main factor that influences this discovery is perhaps his memories as a child. Traumas, accidents, and child abuse surely play a massive role in driving a teen to fall into teenage violence.
Drugs and alcohol usage:
Alcohol and drugs usage directly affects the body’s physical function, reduces self-control and the ability to avoid risks. Also, They can increase emotional lability and impulsivity that makes teenagers more likely to fall into different violent actions such as rape, assults ,and fights.

Since we are forced to stay at home, this is the perfect time for watching movies/tv shows. Here are some mind blowing movies that we recommend.

Interstellar(2014) ,A movie that changed the way i look at the space. It is a scifi/drama movie that takes place in a period of time in Earth where dust & diseases are spread ,destroying all the natural resources on Earth. Therefore a group of explorers led by pilot Cooper seeks to travel on an unknown space journey through the blackhole in order to search for another planet fit for human life. The greatness of this movie is discovering the unknown.

The Shawshank Redemption(1994). This movie is considered by many as the best movie ever. Personally, i think of it as a stunning masterpiece of art.
It tells the story of banker Andy Dufresne who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State prison for the murders of his wife and her lover despite his claims of innocence. He befriend Red Redding, a fellow prisoner. They have a great friendship over the years, eventually finding comfort and salvation through committing to good morals. The acting and cinematography in this movie is beyond excellent to the point that it touches your heart in every scene.


Breaking bad (2008-2013) “Say my name ” “I am not in danger I am the danger ” ” I’m in the empire business “. Thats Heisenberg, formerly Walter White ,a chemistry teacher, discovers that he has cancer and decides to get into the meth-making business (drugs) to repay his medical debts while trying to hide his business from his pregnant wife & his son. His priorities begin to change when he partners with Jesse Pinkman, his former student, becoming the great HEISENBERG. As I am writing this, I am getting nostalgic remembering the best two weeks of my life watching this legendary show.
